Passive Income
12 Jul 2018

Who’s interested in making money while they sleep? I thought that might get your attention. Most folks know what passive income is. It’s simply receiving money for little or no effort. Well, you need to put forth some effort before that happens, but it is possible.

When you think about your future retirement, if you do, what do you see? Sitting on the beach, hiking in the mountains, travelling the world… Whatever it is, how do you plan on attaining that? Most people think I’ll put some money in my 401k or maybe you still have a pension coming to you or social security in some form. But what if you didn’t have those things… What if you found a way to have someone else help support all the fun things you want to do. Have you thought about purchasing real estate?

Let me first explain where passive income comes in and why it’s so important:

  1. Passive income will free up your time – Time is something you can’t get more of. Once it’s gone, that’s it! Having enough money will help you free up more time so you can enjoy your life. If you can get to a point where your passive income outweighs your expenses, you’ll be free to spend time doing what you want.
  2. Passive income will let you do what you want – Many of us have causes we like to support. Wouldn’t it be nice to spend more time helping and volunteering for causes than actively working for income? Maybe you’d like to spend more time with family and friends. Wake up to things that make you happy and not things you have to do.
  3. Passive income will allow you to live anywhere you want – If you’re a traveller, this might be your trigger. I’ve recently had the desire to live to 2-3 months in various places around the world. Southern France, Kauai, Switzerland etc. You can set up camp anywhere and if you don’t like it, go someplace else.

Allowing yourself to think big and knowing it is possible is half the battle. It’s easy to not go after and just think about the day to day. Make a plan and move forward. It may take some time, but the reward is immense.

How do you start you ask? Think about what you have and where you want to be. Do you own a home now? If not, that’s OK. If you can’t purchase something where you are now, think about an investment property in a less expensive region. You can always buy your personal residence later.

Do you have disposable income saved up? Put it to work!! With a little thought and time, you can begin to let others help you built wealth so that you can enjoy your life sooner rather than later.
